PRIORITIES
Human Trafficking
For too long, parts of our community have been impacted by open prostitution and human trafficking activity happening in plain sight. Residents should not have to worry about what their children are exposed to on their way to school or in their own neighborhoods. This is a public safety issue, and it demands immediate, focused action.
My Focus:
-
Address human trafficking along the Long Beach Blvd corridor.
-
Establish a dedicated investigation team or targeted enforcement.
-
Increase penalties and add stronger consequences for repeat buyers/offenders.
-
Enhanced penalties near schools or if minors are involved.
-
Strategic placement of cameras.
-
Increase public awareness and community education.
-
Provide job training, counseling, and legal support for victims.
-
Strengthen partnerships with underfunded outreach and support programs.
-
Enforce nuisance abatement laws on motels, businesses or properties tied to trafficking and evoke permits/licenses when necessary.
Homelessness
Homelessness in our community requires both compassion and accountability. Residents want to see real progress, not programs that fall short or leave people living on the streets without a path forward. We need a more effective approach that delivers individualized support, prioritizes permanent solutions, and ensures taxpayer dollars are used wisely. That means better planning, completing projects, and focusing on outcomes that truly help people transition into stable housing.
-
Take a compassionate but accountable approach
-
Focus on individualized services that lead to permanent housing
-
Create clear pathways off the streets with measurable outcomes
-
Avoid policies that incentivize long-term street living
-
Improve planning and ensure projects are completed efficiently
-
Use funds more effectively to deliver real, lasting results
-
Increase coordination between outreach teams, service providers, and the city
-
Prioritize mental health, addiction services, and job readiness programs
-
Hold programs accountable for performance and results
Public Safety
Public safety is the foundation of a strong community. Right now, many residents are dealing with rising concerns around crime, including car thefts, break-ins, and visible human trafficking activity that impact daily life. Families should feel safe in their homes, on their streets, and in the areas where their children go to school. We need a focused, results-driven approach that restores order, protects vulnerable individuals, and ensures our neighborhoods are safe and secure.
-
Increase visible patrol presence in high-crime areas
-
Hire more officers to improve response times and neighborhood coverage
-
Strengthen enforcement to address car thefts and residential break-ins
-
Use data and technology to identify and respond to crime hotspots
-
Expand strategic placement of cameras in high-risk areas
-
Improve coordination between law enforcement and community partners
-
Strengthen neighborhood watch programs and community involvement
-
Hold repeat offenders accountable with stronger enforcement strategies
-
Enforce nuisance abatement laws on problem properties
-
Improve lighting in areas with ongoing safety concerns
Traffic Safety & Enforcement
From street takeovers to everyday speeding and rising traffic accidents, our streets are becoming increasingly unsafe. Residents are seeing reckless behavior, dangerous intersections, and repeated crashes that threaten drivers, pedestrians, and families alike. No one should feel at risk just walking or driving through their own neighborhood. We need immediate action to protect our community.
Street Takeovers
-
Enforce ordinances to stop street takeovers
-
Increase patrol presence and improve lighting in problem areas
-
Impound vehicles involved with strong penalties
-
Install license plate reader cameras in known hotspots
Traffic and Road Safety
-
Add traffic calming measures where needed
-
Improve bike lane infrastructure and keep lanes clear
-
Install flashing pedestrian crossings
-
Prioritize improvements in high-accident areas
-
Prioritize improvements where accidents happen most
-
Restore PD Traffic Enforcement Division
Economic Growth and Fiscal Responsibility
Our city must be managed with discipline, accountability, and a clear focus on results. Residents deserve to know that their tax dollars are being used efficiently and that projects are delivered on time and on budget. At the same time, we need to strengthen our local economy by creating the conditions for sustainable growth and increased revenue without placing additional burdens on taxpayers.
-
No new taxes on residents
-
Conduct independent audits to identify and eliminate wasteful spending
-
Improve oversight of city contracts and agreements
-
Track projects and budgets more closely for accountability
-
Demand efficient timelines and real results for public projects
-
Increase city revenue through responsible local economic development
Small Business Support
Small businesses are the backbone of our community, but too many are struggling due to crime, homelessness, and human trafficking activity impacting our commercial corridors. When businesses don’t feel safe or supported, it affects jobs, local investment, and the overall health of our neighborhoods. We must create a safer, more supportive environment where small businesses can succeed and grow.
-
Bring more retail and commerce to North Long Beach to keep spending local
-
Provide tools, resources, and better access to grants for small businesses
-
Create programs to educate and support new business owners on financial management and operations
-
Strengthen existing businesses so they can stay open and expand
-
Support safe, clean, and welcoming commercial corridors
Upkeep and Cleanliness
Clean neighborhoods are essential to quality of life and community pride. Too many residents are dealing with illegal dumping, overflowing trash, and areas that are not being maintained consistently. This not only impacts how our neighborhoods look, but also affects safety, property values, and how people feel about where they live. We need a more proactive, consistent approach that keeps our streets clean and holds people accountable.
-
Expand and strengthen Clean Team programs for more consistent coverage
-
Implement stronger enforcement and penalties for illegal dumping
-
Install cameras and signage in known dumping hotspots
-
Improve reporting systems so residents can easily report issues
-
Respond faster to cleanup requests and code enforcement violations
-
Partner with community groups for neighborhood cleanups and beautification
